A Few Words from Quest Leader: Tom Bol

Highlights

We will take you off the beaten tourist path in Brooklyn where your home base will be the Marriott Hotel in downtown Brooklyn literally in walking distance from the Brooklyn Bridge and the historic Brooklyn Heights Promenade. From both locations you’ll capture quintessential NYC sunrise and sunset images with the harbor and Manhattan skyline in the background. Learn to create cool flash portraits with belly dancers and athletes in DUMBO with the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and NYC skyline as your backdrop. You’ll also have the opportunity to photograph some of NYC’s most infamous sites including an off camera flash night shoot in Times Square, the South Street Seaport plus great views of the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building!

During this weekend long workshop, Tom Bol, an editorial and commercial pro photographer who specializes in adventure sports, portraits and travel photography, will teach you how to use TTL off camera flash and location lighting to create flash images like the pros!

You will learn:

  • Flash and lighting theory
  • Balanced fill flash
  • Off camera wireless flash technique
  • How to create bounce flash
  • Use of soft boxes, reflectors, gels and scrims with TTL flash
