Advanced Studio Lighting

Course Objective

Learn to develop your lighting skills with an individual style. Students will study examples of currents trends in lighting. Specific techniques will be discussed, analyzed and demonstrated including a variety of more advanced equipment such as flash tailoring devises, speed lights, ring light, incandescent lights, kinoflows and mixing types of light for effect. This weekend long course will also cover the use of strobes, ring flash, incandescent, tungsten, Kino Flos and HMI.

Prerequisite: Studio Lighting 2 or a working knowledge of studio equipment and procedure

DAY 1: 9am-6pm
  • Learn the ins and outs of lighting and shooting the perfect head shot
  • Review the various types of lighting equipment from Studio Lighting 2
  • In-depth discussion and analysis of the current trends and techniques used to achieve specific lighting affects
DAY 2: 9am-6 pm
  • Hone the skills needed to light and shoot a full body shot
  • Hands on learning as we set-up studio lights to shoot models in various fashion situations
  • Practice with lighting equipment provided to create different moods
DAY 3: 9am-4 pm
  • Shooting in motion
  • The use of smoke machines and other lighting effects to create dramatic images of people ( Models provided)
  • One on One image reviews
